Event

Indonesian Cultural Festival is the biggest annual event held by PPI Greater Manchester (the Indonesian Student Society).

Every year, we invite the Greater Manchester communities to experience Indonesia’s rich heritage and cultural diversity through authentic Indonesian cuisines and traditional dance and musical performances.

Culture

Indonesia is home to over 200 million people and over 700 ethnic groups. Each ethnic group has its own dances, adding up to more than 3,000 Indonesian original dances, such as kecak dance from Bali and saman dance from Aceh that was announced as a world intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. Another Indonesian heritage being recognised by UNESCO is angklung. Belonging to the percussion family, angklung is a musical instrument made of several bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame.

At Indonesian Cultural Festival 2017, you can experience all these Indonesian culture and heritage, you can also try out traditional Indonesian costume, so what are you waiting for?
